Mother's Day Tea at preschool...

I love getting crafts from my kids - especially when they are in preschool!!  This past week Luke had his preschool mother's day tea.  It was so fun and sweet.  They sang a few songs and had several crafts they had made on the table.  My favorite is the story he wrote about me:

This is a story about my mother.  Her name is LeighAnn. She has blonde hair and black eyes. She is 40ft tall and weighs 45lbs.  She is 33 years old.  My mom loves  to read.  She likes to play Hi Ho Cherrio's with me and color with me.  She makes macaroni and eggs best of all.  My mom an dI love to go on dates together.  We like to go to Chick-fil-A.  She is happy when I do stuff for her.  She looks pretty when she wears her sandals.  She loves to rock with Linnea.  On Mother's Day I want to tell her "Happy Mother's Day and thanks for being my special mom."

How precious is that!!  I love it!!!  After reading Luke's I got a little nostalgic and had to go back and see what Nathan's story about me said so here is his .... this was back in 2009

My mom is 30 years old.  She is really big and weighs 31 lbs.  She is the prettiest when she dresses up really nice for Sunday.  My mom is funny when she works out.  She always says I can't play with stuff I want to.  My mom and I like to go out on a date.  She is happy when I obey her but she gets angry when I disobey.  She really likes to cook and makes cakes best of all.  On Mother's Day I want to tell her .... I Love you!!

It will be so fun in years to come to see how my other kiddo's stories turn out!!

May 5 Photo : Bird

We actually have some owls in our trees in our yard and they have been around for the last few years - of course I was never going to be able to get a picture of them so I thought I would make a owl snack!!  Nathan and Luke have named the owls Moe and Funny.  Maybe one day I will get a picture when they are sitting on the fence - but it wasn't happening today.

Unexpected mail....

I have been waiting on a package in the mail for my friend Nat who will heading to meet her daughter Ruthie soon.  As a gift for her baby shower I got her a necklace of Ruthie's Chinese name.  I had gotten one of these necklaces with Linnea's Chinese name for her foster mother and then my sweet friend Andrea got me one for my baby shower and I love it!! In fact when I was in China I had many compliments on it.  Thank you Kelly at Jiayin Designs for such great service!! If you are looking for a unique gift please check out her website she has lots to offer and right now she is donating 10% of her sales to The Sparrow Fund which provides grants to adopting families as well as other services.  Check theme out!!  Here is a pic of my necklace....

So I got the mail and there was a package for me and it was packaged exactly like my necklace so I thought for sure it was Nat's necklace (she knows she is getting this by the way) and I actually started to call her and let her know it was here - but much to my surprise I opened the package and it wasn't Nat's gift but a gift for me from a dear friend Diana. Diana is Linnea Hope's namesakes mother!!

It is a family tree necklace with all my boys and Linnea's name stamped on a circular plate with a tree in front and it is on a beautiful sterling silver chain.  As many of you know Diana's daughter Linnea passed away from Spinal Muscular Atrophy and their daughter Emily Hope has SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) as well.  The neatest thing is that 10% of the sale from the necklace went to a foundation for SMA.  This was such a sweet treat from a very dear friend!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU Diana!!!  I checked out the website (Say What Creations) Diana ordered the necklace from and it also has many unique and personalized items as well.  Mothers Day is coming up and any thing from any of the websites I mentioned in this post would make fabulous gifts.  I know I love mine!!

May 3 Photo : Something I wore today

These are my absolute favorite flip flops - I have had them for 4 or 5 years now and my sweet friend Jaclyn gave them to me - she got them when she was in Israel.  The bracelet I am wearing is also very special to me as I got it in China at the Treasures of Hope store.  Some of the proceeds from sales at Treasures of Hope goes to help True Childrens Home - the place where Linnea was.  Two special items from two different countries and I wore them both today!!
