He's home sweet home!

Yay!!! David made it home safely! I am so thankful for the Lord's protection over him and us while he was gone! We picked him up at the airport yesterday afternoon. The kids made him a welcome home sign and we were all so glad to see him!! Last night we went out and had some dinner at La Hacienda now known as the "chip place." To say Luke loved the chips is an understatement!! We had all finished eating our food Luke included and were ready to get going home and Luke has two baskets of chips in front of him and promptly tells us he is not finished! He says "I not done yet I have two of them!" In other words he wanted to eat all those chips before we left. We ended up taking them home and the first thing he said to me this morning was he wanted to eat his chips!! It was a fun night and I for one am sure glad to have my hubby home!!

Cocoa Pepsies...

Daddy bought the boys a special treat this weekend to have for breakfast one day this week as he is going to be gone and the kids love to find things daddy has left them. They love cereal and we don't buy the super sugary kind very often. David had told me he hid them in the pantry and maybe they would find them one day this week. Well one day turned into this morning!! I went downstairs as it was all quite only to find Nathan making himself a sandwich - I must say the kid has been paying attention to the sandwich making! And Luke is proceeding to open the box of "Cocoa Pepsies." Yep that is what Nathan affectionately called them this morning! I was laughing all the way upstairs to tell David. I was probably laughing for a number of reasons - after all both of my boys were downstairs trying to fix their own breakfast! Apparently I wasn't moving fast enough!! The funny thing about the "Cocoa Pepsies" is Nathan specifically says "these aren't the chocolate kind Luke they come in another box!" Silly mommy I have always either called them Fruity or Cocoa Pebbles!! But what do moms know??!!

Taste and See that the Lord is Good!

The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17~

A friend of mine and fellow blogger posted this verse on her blog the other day and it reminded me of a song that was written based on this very verse of scripture. Then this morning as I was reading John Pipers book "Taste and See ...Savoring the Supremacy of God in ALL of Life 140 Meditations" There the verse was again!! I absolutely love this book and if I could I would buy one for all of my friends. I have many favorite authors - Elizabeth George, CJ Mahaney, Ravi Zacharias and now I can add to my list John Piper. Oh how I wish I had more time to read!! I love God and His word and I love it when He uses others to show Himself. Piper says "one of the good reasons we turn to other writers besides the Bible is that we savor the taste of God not only in the Bible, but also the way others savor Him." Piper does in my opinion an excellent job of showing God's perfection and excellency to me the reader! And I most definitely need this. I find myself thinking for a good part of the many attributes of Christ! Today I even memorized some scripture he quoted. "His delight is not in the strength of a horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man; but the Lord delights in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. " ~Psalm 147:10-11 This struck me today ... Confession time for a moment... I have been very consumed with how I look right now trying to what I feel like is no avail to rid myself of the weight I gained while being pregnant ... all the while still trying to eat enough to feed not just myself but also Ethan as I am still breastfeeding.... mind you I am doing myself no favors eating a bunch of junk. Anyway I have been running which requires the use of my legs. And I am very thankful for those legs I have been given by God and that they work rather well. However God is not impressed in my running capabilities or how much weight I can lose by running "nor is his pleasure in the legs of a man" He takes pleasure when I fear him and hope in only him not in my looks. So if you are reading this you can pray for me. Pray that my fear for the Lord will increase and that while getting healthy is a worthwhile goal - it is all the more worthwhile when my priorities are in order and I do it the proper way. And hey it has happened twice before I am thinking it will happen again. If you can get this book and have a great day!!

Just an FYI

I added to my bloglist two women I don't really know at all but find their blogs very entertaining!! Boomama and Whitaker Woman. Whitaker woman was on several blogs of friends I read and then Boomama was on Whitaker woman. Not that any of this really matters to any of you but just thought I would tell you. Really I am NOT a blogstalker. I know the other people on my bloglist fairly well. And like the post says this was really just an fyi! Well ...... I have one kid making random noises over here, one practically throwing his tennis shoes on me so I will help him get dressed and one running around in his PJ shirt and underwear!! So I better get going and get on with the day got to get Nathan off to school, workout, laundry.... you know the list goes on. What are you up to today!!??

Time for a science lesson

So Nathan calls me into the bathroom the other morning as he is brushing his teeth. He then informs me that he can see his brain. Yes I am laughing already!! I said "how can you see your brain?" He says "look in my mouth you see that thing hanging down - that's my brain!" I think I need to have a little science lesson with him about the anatomy of the mouth!

Taste buds...

Taste .... something you probably don't think about very often. I know I don't at least not until recently. I have often heard my pastor pray and thank God for our sense of taste - how appropriate!! Taste is something I often take for granted! So tonight I thought I would make a list of some of my favorite snacks - in no particular order.

1. Strawberries with Bakers semi sweet chocolate chips (the kind you can microwave this makes yummy chocolate covered strawberries!)
2. Reeses 100 calorie pack snacksters
3. Chex mix - cheddar, dark chocolate, and peanut butter kind
4. Chex mix granola bars - turtle and chocolate - these are soo yummo!
5. Hot chocolate
6. Sun chips - garden salsa
7. oranges
8. bananas
9. Yoplait yogurt - strawberry shortcake flavor
10. Diet Dr. Pepper

These are just some - what are some of your favorite snacks?

"I don't have a elbow..."

Luke has grown up soo much in the last year!! Today he was pointing to several parts of his body and naminng them. I can remember being at a well visit and the peds office asking me if Luke knew where his eyes, nose or ears were... I laughed! He didn't know any of that stuff and if he did he wasn't telling. I can recall thinking he is so behind compared to Nathan. Boy has he caught up. Tonight I was telling David about him telling me where his arms and cheeks were so we started asking him to show us his eyes, and nose and ears on and on. Then I asked him where is your elbow. He laughed soo hard and said "I don't have a elbow!!!!" We laughed soo hard .... Maybe this is one of those stories where you just had to be there.

A day at the office

Today the kids and I went to CFA home office for mommy to have lunch with friends and of course daddy as well. I had a great time catching up with Amy and Angie. After lunch we went up to daddy's office where the boys had a great time playing on the phone and the computer!!They each left the office with their own "notebooks." On the way home Nathan tells me he wants to write daddy a note - "Tomorrow I want to go to work Daddy!" Fun times!!

Definitely not a CFA experience!!

I laugh soo hard EVERY time I watch this!!

Oh the places we go...

I am still chuckling as I think about my afternoon with Nathan. You should first know two things.

1. Those of you that know me know I am a party animal! Out everynight - you know I am not busy at all with 3 BOYS all under the age of 4 - I have plenty of time to be going out and about ... NOT!
2. If you are familiar with the ATL area then you know the best place to party so I have heard is Buckhead - you know since I am such a party queen I should know this.....

Now this afternoon Nathan and I are hanging out in the playroom and he suddenly says to me "Mom I am about to go and meet my dude (thanks Mike Work!!) up in Buckhill." I am laughing thinking to myself he must have meant Buckhead and what does he even know about Buckhead - we never talk about that city much less go there unless David is spoiling me once again with a date at a great place to eat!! So he goes on and on and on about him and his dude going up to "Buckhill" when suddenly he has come back and precedes to tell me he and his dude saw the biggest bucks!! Hello me - what was I thinking that "Buckhill" could mean anything else besides a place where you see big bucks!! Oh my little hunter - thinking about those deer even when the season is over!! I am just laughing out loud right now because this was soo funny - hope you thought so!

Hitting a milestone..

Well this past week I joined the ranks of the 30's club! What a fun day I had!! I left my house that morning to take Nathan to school only to find balloons and a poster tied to my mailbox - compliments of my neighbor who also brought over a delicious plate of strawberries with chocolate to dip them in!! My sweet boys and I enjoyed them after lunch and I was then serenaded by both of them with their guitars singing "Happy Birthday Mommy!" That night we had church as usual where my husband much to my surprise brought in a cake and our whole church celebrated this momentous milestone with me. Each one of my kids from childrens choir brought me a flower to make a giant bouquet with along with a card signed by all that plays the chicken dance! And if that wasn't enough one of the moms made some little cupcakes for us all to have. And some other moms gave me some fruit - they rock - they know I am trying to eat a little healthier to get rid of the post preggo weight! Then David has the kids play a little game called "Ms LeighAnn trivia" This his how the game went :
1. How old is Ms LeighAnn - 30!!!
2 What are Ms. LeighAnn's favorite colors - pink and orange
3. What is Ms. LeighAnn's favorite place to eat - CFA (he must have paid them with BOG's!!) At this point I thought maybe he was taking me out to eat not at CFA but at Macaroni Grill one of my favorite restaurants - we used to have one close by but it closed down so now we have to travel about an hour to the nearest one - but he moves on not mentioning Mac Grill
4. Where is Ms LeighAnn's favorite place to go - NYC (now I was catching on..)
5. What is one of Ms. LeighAnn's favorite shows to see in NYC - Mary Poppins
That's right!! My husband rocks!! He is taking me to NYC just the two of us!! And we are going to see Mary Poppins!! So then we get home and the fun isn't over my kids come downstairs with this little box and Nathan says "this is for you because you are always chasing after us" - it was a gift card for some new shoes. Then I have a great big card to open which says Happy Birthday from the "Muttley Crew" and it plays who let the dogs out - my kids were hilarious!! Dancing all around! Then David gives me a card and tells me we are going to see another show and writes "Surprise we are going to party in NYC!" Isn't he great!! I am soo looking forward to being in my favorite city with my favorite person!! I think he is more excited than I am - he loves to plan and has already been mapping out our weekend in the city in late April!

Turning 30 brought much introspect on my life this week. I absolutely loved my 20's! So many things happened during that decade of my life...I took a trip to China - actually thought I would go and live there for a while! I graduated college with a B.M. in music education. Used my degree in education and taught school for 3 years. I met and married my best friend. There are just not enough words for me to describe my selfless husband. As God does for so many of us He uniquely designed David just for me and I am truly thankful. I set up house - in three places to be exact - our apartment in PTC, our first house in Newnan and now our home here in Fayetteville and I have told David we are living here forever - you couldn't pay me to move for a number of reasons mainly I love my neighbors and I just love my home! But your home is not just your house it's your family and in my 20's I had the amazing experiencing of carrying and giving birth to the three most precious children - all boys! I have such a unique bond with each one of them and I watch them and know because they are all brothers they will have a unique bond between themselves. I belong to an amazing church body and have some of the best friends!! How gracious my God is!! All of us here on earth experience God's grace. I like to put them in two categories - you have everyday graces - for example I am looking out the window at my neighbors yard and he has some pretty nice green grass - now even the unbeliever gets to experience the nice green grass. And the shining sun which brings light to our day - believer or not you still get the sun and the light it provides. But we as believers oh how much more we get to experience! For the majority my time in the twenty-somethings was great - but there were times when I thought I was being stretched to my limit but God in his infinite mercy reminded me I have to be stretched so I can be more like Him so I can be the best wife, and mommy and friend and whatever else He calls me to be. He never left my side for a minute and He repeatedly forgives me when I stumble. Let me share with you I am a dirty rotten sinner- I sometimes think I am the most selfish person I know along with a long list of other things - but I am also know "My chains are gone, I've been set free, My God, my Savior has ransomed me, And like a flood His mercy rains, Unending love, Amazing grace!" Unfortunately the unbeliever doesn't know to look at the cross or in some cases just doesn't want to so even though they get to experience the everyday graces they are missing the downpour of blessings as a believer. All this to say at first I wasn't really looking forward to being 30 - you know I hear that metabolism just gets slower!! But really I look to this next decade of life with great anticipation! I want to trust Christ even more and learn to live completely in Him!! I want to teach my children about the supremacy of Christ and that He is all they will ever need - oh how I long to see each one of them come know Him and as Nathan would tell me "live in their hearts!" I want them to experience more than just the everyday graces that come with life! But most importantly like Paul says in Colossians this is my prayer for all of us "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ " After all this world is not my final home and in the grand scheme of things 30 does not compare with eternity!!
