The voting poll!

Okay friends......you only have a few more days to vote on whether you think we will be adding another boy to the Pruiksma household or my long awaited girl (that sounds bad doesn't it?) I truly am blessed to be having another baby and I do realize this. Anyway there are only two votes posted as of now and it is 50 -50 chance....... that is what it is anyway. So just have some fun and join the poll. Vote and leave me a comment! It is all in fun!! I will keep you posted as we are scheduled to find out on Monday..... that is just a few short days away. Hope the baby isn't feeling super modest then!!

Upscale Pizza

Yes it is true .... You have heard correctly Mr. Truett Cathy is opening up a pizza joint in what used to be MacAllisters Deli. We just recently found out that David will be the business consultant for the store as it will sort of follow the same protocol as Dwarf Houses/Truetts Grills. They will not be serving CFA. They will have milkshakes and there will be hot dogs and of course pizza! Yummo since I have been craving pizza with this pregnancy. And wonderful news to my ears they will have a Greek pizza one of my favorites!! Grand opening is Thursday so we hope to see you there!!

another milestone - bike riding

My in-laws are famous at yard sales!! Seriously they go every weekend..... at least Dad does.... I actually tease him that he has a real problem...... every weekend he comes home with more lawn mowers to fix up and sell. I told him he needed to go to LMA lawn mowers anonymous!! Anyway you get the point they love yard sales...... and this is working to my benefit so I am quite thankful!! Last summer they picked up a bike with training wheels for 10 dollars. It looks brand new ..in fabulous condition. But last summer Nathan was too little for it so it went to "papa's house" aka the shed, and really I wasn't sure about pulling it out this year. We had actually thought of purchasing him a new bike for his birthday but everytime we tried one out at the store he could not push the pedals. So we decided to save the money you know new bikes are not cheap these days. Well the other night we were at my in-laws and Nathan was riding his tricycle and going 90mph on it and dad thought we should bring the bike out of the shed so I said ok. He had a hard time to begin with but now you should see him go!! He is riding all over our driveway ..... well the flat part of the driveway. Can you imagine if I let him go down that steep hill??!!!! He loves riding his bike!! It is so hard for me to believe that my little guy is getting so big. It seems just like yesterday I was watching him in the swing wondering what kind of personality he would have and now he is riding a bike!!

Luke loves to be outside too! In fact the first thing he says in the morning is shoes and outside. He is still a little short for the tricycle but my mom had bought Nathan this little tractor to ride around on when he was little and it is just perfect for Luke and he LOVES it!! He wears a little helmet and just zooms around. And boy can he go! He tries to go up the hill ... I know my neighbors must get tired of hearing me holler "turn around Luke!!"

Here are few pics I took the other day of the boys outside. Enjoy the pics and this beautiful weather!

"you should blog about that"

Well it is apparent Nathan knows I blog. I didn't think I really talked about it that much.... I have let him watch the slide shows that I post but it isn't something I discuss with him everyday. And I sure hope he notices alot more about me than that I just blog!! But to the point we were laying in bed the other morning ... David had decided to go into work a little later and we were all snuggled up. Nathan's allergies were bothering him and he was sneezing and coughing etc and then we hear our cat Lily sneeze...... Nathan says "what was that?" To which I reply that was Lily she sneezed too! Nathan laughs and says "oh mom you need to blog about that!" David and I both laughed and I honestly didn't think another thing about it until last night when we were in the van and I can't even remember what was being said but once again Nathan says "you need to blog about that!" Oh my!!! Well I tell myself at least I am doing something so I will remember these years as they pass so quickly!!

Just call me Truvy!

"I don't trust anyone who does their own hair.. I don't think it's natural"

If you are a woman chances are you have probably seen the movie "Steel Magnolias" It is a classic girlie movie and Truvy is a hairdresser played by Dolly Parton! Well I would probably not do my own hair unless I was totally desperate (and of course I do trust those that do their own) but I have decided to cut my own kids hair! This came after MUCH thought and consideration! A lady from our church has been cutting our kids hair and saving me quite a bit as oppossed to going to a salon so I am grateful for her but one night David said you should cut their hair. To be honest my first thoughts were "excuse me" we are not paying that much for someone else to cut it and besides I have zero experience in the hair cutting department and my boys have straight blonde hair ....... any flaw would be noticeable!! I should have said okay let me try my hand at your hair first :) I didn't though. I just kept having visions of the time my mom cut my sisters hair when she was younger and it was sooo short and my sister hated it!! I just didn't want to ruin their hair and I know I could have shaved it worst case scenario and that would not be the end of the world but certainly not my first desire. I know this is becoming a long story - sorry!

Anyway.... I got to thinking about it ..... I have been reading the book "Money, Possessions and Eternity" by Randy Alcorn and I have really been convicted about being a good steward of all the things God has entrusted us with one obviously being money and if I can save money ultimately allowing us to be able to give more then there is no reason I could not try my hand at this. So the last time Carol cut the kids hair I had her guide me in what to do etc etc. I went in search of a good pair of scissors only to discover they can be a bit expensive! I then remembered that my mimi used to cut hair in her basement... she had a chair the whole nine yards etc. etc. So I called her up to see if she still had scissors and if she used them and so on. Turns out she still had them and does not use them and gladly handed them down to me.

That was about a month ago. Soo now Nathan's hair is in need of a a cut and he has been begging to have it shaved like last summer so I was all ready to borrow some clippers and just buzz it off but I coudn't! He looks sooo grown up when he has no hair as he calls it and I just wasn't ready so now the adventure was going to begin ... I had to cut his hair!! I turned my little laundry room into a salon (much like Truvy "the last nice thing my husband did was enclose this carport so I could support him" Thank goodness that is not my case!) I stacked many phone books into the booster seat and put a towel around Nathan got my spray bottle and went to work! If I butchered it I would just have to buzz it and Donnah was coming over anyway so she could have brought me the clippers! But if I do say so myself it turned out quite nicely. I am sure if a professional took a look at it there would probably be many flaws! But to my human eyes it looks fine and the summer is coming anyway so it will be time for a buzz.

I am sure you are wondering if I have tackled Luke's hair yet and the answer is NO!! He is such a wiggle worm I will wait until he most desperately needs a cut and I have some help because I DO NOT want to have to buzz his hair!!

The new blog site........

So if you are reading this you got the memo!! Yes I did change blogsites. I was having some problems with getting pictures on wordpress etc etc so I am trying this one out. I actually copied and pasted every blog I wrote on wordpress on to this site. I am still working on getting a few pictures put with the posts as they did not copy over but all in due time. The address is still pretty much the same except for the ending instead of wordpress it is blogspot. I should give kudos to my friend Dawn Sullivan as she has a FABULOUS website on blogspot and I got the idea to switch over from her and our friend Nathan Lee. Well I have things to blog about but I am getting tired so they may just have to wait. Have a great one!

Nathan always has something to say...

Posted on April 18, 2008 by Pruiksma's

So you know I have to write about all the things my little man says so here are a few more stories for you!

#1. For Nathan’s bday my friend Angie gave him a little devotional book for us to read with him at night it is themed with all different kinds of animals. The one we read the other night was about lizards and how when they are attacked their tails can come off and they will grow back. He remembered when we caught a lizard in our playroom that it was missing its tail. Obviously Lily our cat had found him first. So this is my favorite … I ask him what can happen to lizards and he replies: “their tails come off and God grows them back.” I just think that is such a precious response!

#2 Nathan is quite imaginative and he comes in the playroom the other night and this is what he says to me : “Mommy… you know Mr. Justin when he plays softball he slides into the mud and gets all dirty he gets his legs dirty and his pants and he gets his face dirty and mud in his hair ….. oh wait Mr. Justin doesn’t have hair he just has a head.” Thankfully Justin thought this was as funny as I did because I laughed so hard I had to call Brooke right away in case I forgot!

Yellow River Game Ranch

Posted on April 18, 2008 by Pruiksma's

What a great day we had today!! David was able to take off today because he will be working Saturday on a big order for CFA. We decided to take the kids to the Yellow River Game Ranch up near Stone Mountain. I had never heard of this place but it is a farm/petting zoo- I highly recommend it! I was a little unsure how Luke would do he is not super crazy about some animals. He is pretty used to our cat Lily but not too sure about other peoples pets etc. We decided to give it a try anyway - his admission was free so we weren’t losing out on anything if he didn’t like it. We headed up there about 11:30 stopped and got some lunch and ate it in the van on the way. We probably got there around 12:15 just as all the school buses were leaving - perfect timing in my opinion now we would not be fighting a crowd!

Well just as I suspected Luke was not too sure about this. He clung so tightly to me and did not want to get down to begin with. We bought some food so the kids could feed some of the animals and I did not think he would ever do that - but he ended up loving it!! He was more fond of the animals that were smaller than he was but he had such a great time. Our favorite moment with him was when he gave a cracker to a duck and if you have ever fed a duck you know how they snatch it right out of your hand - he jumped back so far!! It was hilarious!! He took it all very well and actually did it twice more then he wised up and just started throwing the food at them. He also called all the roosters and just about every other animal “daddy”!! It was soo funny - poor David! I think in my mommy opinion in his mind he is saying hey doggy … I know daddy - doggy they are a little close and he thinks every animal is a dog. So that is my theory. But whenever I see a rooster I am always going to think of Daddy aka my hubby David!

Nathan of course had a blast!! He said and did so many funny things! We came across a deer to begin with and the first words out of his mouth were “we should have brought our bow and arrows daddy!” Spoken like a true hunter! As we came to the goats there were several mama and baby goats and he just politely asked the goat “Do you know my friend Goober?” Goober is the goat that resides with the Pells! Nathan loves animals and he loves to talk to them. You will see in the pictures he enjoyed feeding them and held his nose as we passed the skunk! It was not a pleasant smell! When we came to where we could see the river he says “that river is not yellow.” Kids are so literal!! He loved all the animals and I love how we are able to explain that God makes all things even stinky skunks! We left the ranch a little bit after two and he wasn’t really looking forward to the ride home. (Except for seeing some helicopters on top of a building which he thought were blackhawks - they weren’t but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him.) He is not a big fan of the interstate - I think it is because he associates the interstate with long rides in the car but I reminded him that we have to take the interstate to get to Florida and we love Florida because we can go to the beach. And he chimes in “oh yeah they have sand there and the ocean - is it still going?” David and I laughed sooooo hard!!! “Is the beach still going?” It was priceless!! We explained that it was still going and God is in control of the ocean.

We grilled out burgers for dinner, headed to soccer practice and then off to Daddy’s softball game. We had a great day and all my boys are sleeping soundly as I blog away!! Enjoy the pics!!!

not the perfect mom...

Posted on April 18, 2008 by Pruiksma's

I recently have had some issues with my computer and email etc etc. So one morning I decided to call Microsoft and get some help! Of course when getting on the phone your kids immediately need you and when you call a big corporation such as Microsoft you are going to be on hold!! I probably should have called during nap time but I was impatient and wanted my issues fixed. Well during the course of my call Luke cries and cries and I end up having to send Nathan to his room. As I was begining to wrap up my call (probably an hour later) I noticed it was really quiet in the house. I called for the boys and no answer. I figured Nathan had probably fallen asleep in his bed and I was right. And Luke - my guess was he was into something he wasn’t supposed to be ie the pantry. Well I go to head downstairs and he is not in the pantry this is what I find……

Goober's babies and more fun at the Pell's!

Posted on April 18, 2008 by Pruiksma's

Well in case you didn’t know Nathan is good friends with the Pell’s goat Goober. And actually she does not even belong to the Pells she belongs to the Teachouts - so I have to give them a shout out as well! Nathan loves Goober so much that we save our banana peels etc etc and we deliver them to Mr. JK and Ms Becky often. So if you see us at church carrying a pail of trash around you can safely assume it is for Goober! The Pells have been very kind to include us in Goobers life. Back in December Nathan went with the Pells to pick Goober up from her visit to see some “boy” goats. And it seems as if Goober had a successful time because she just recently gave birth!! The Pells even included Nathan in the Goober birth pool : Nathan had the opportunity to guess when Goober would give birth, how many babies she would have, the gender of the babies and some suggestions on names. Here were Nathan’s predictions DOB - April 11, one baby girl and her name should be wheelie. Yes this all came straight from his mouth!! Well Nathan was close!! Goober gave birth on the night of April 10 and she had two babies and boy and a girl. Joy K. from our church won the pool and named the babies Twix(boy) and Tamale(girl) Tamale’s middle name I am proud to say is Wheelie!! We love the Pells so much and are so thankful the Lord has brought them into our lives! Here are some pictures of us meeting the babies and having some other fun as well!!

Nathan

Posted on April 12, 2008 by Pruiksma's

I just keep thinking of some things Nathan has said recently so I must post them for my own benefit of remembering.

Nathan praying in the car (he did not want it to rain for his fourwheeling birthday party - yes we told him Gods plan is always better)

“Dear God - Please take the rain back into your hands. Please take the polleny back into your hands. And please take those white flowers back. Amen. Mommy can you hear God?”

Mommy: “Yes I can hear God but not like I can hear you talk to me and you can hear me talk to you”

Nathan: (after much thought and silence) “Well I can’t hear him.”

Nathan preaching : “God died on the tree and his hands got hammered.”

Mommy: “No, Jesus died on the cross.”
Nathan: “God is Jesus”

I guess I got put in my place :) There was something else he said the other night and I just cannot remember it! I guess that’s what I get for not writing these things down!!

an update

Posted on April 12, 2008 by Pruiksma's

So I have made a deal with myself….. no blogging, posting pictures etc etc until I have caught up on my reading. Finally I am caught up! Unfortunately you will not see any pictures tonight… maybe tomorrow or the next few days (if I keep up on my readings!!) I am not really sure where David put the camera and it is a little late and I have lots of pics to put up. I so enjoy reading other peoples blogs and wish I was as creative as they were with their sites! I just don’t really have the time. I am doing good to just keep updated! Which is what I thought I would do now as I sit here in the quiet and am inspired by other bloggers. So here goes….

David: He stays pretty busy!! Once again I am so thankful for his dedication to work because it allows me to be home dedicating my time to our family! He is finishing up his training for the new promotion he received at CFA back in December. He is working as an interim operator at Macland Crossing FSU in Marietta. In addition to that he is doing some work for his “real” Job. He should finish out in Marietta June 1 and be back at the home office on a regular basis. I recently had the privilege of meeting his management team at Macland and they are just awesome! I don’t know how he is going to leave them behind! He has invested so much time in their lives and it will be a sad departure for all! He still loves to get the boys all riled up when he gets home and they LOVE it! They very much love their daddy!! It is a joy to watch my kids with their dad as I don’t remember much about my time with my dad.

Nathan: my firstborn little man just turned 4!! Where does the time go??? We have enrolled him for preschool in the fall at Fayetteville First Baptist, however he informed me the other day he does not want to go because mommy won’t be there. Well he is still going! I think he will love it and it will be good for him. I am still praying about homeschooling so we shall see how this goes. Since the weather has been nice he has been able to be outdoors and he loves this as long as someone namely mommy or daddy is out there with him. He is very imaginative and loves to tell us stories here is one for you……We recently had communion at church and I was explaining about Jesus body being broken etc etc. Well I happened to cut my leg shaving the other day and thought it was a perfect example of the body being broken so I go through my spiel and he listens and then this is what he says ” When I was a boy I used to shave my face (pointing to his cheek, chin, nose, eyes etc) and my chin and nose and my eyes and my mom her name was Gwhitney she used to tell me not to shave my eyes.” And that was that I just nodded and said oh and we moved right along! He is something!!

Luke: my sweet little Luke will be 2 at the end of May!! He is sooooo different from Nathan! He is very independent, wants his shoes on all the time and LOVES food! He wants to eat all the time! He has recently started putting words together such as “here mama” and “Naney push” He calls Nathan “naney” and just recently started calling us mommy and daddy it is no wonder he added a “y” sound to Nathan because everyone in the family has it - mommy, daddy, even the cat lily so now Nathan is “naney”. He too loves playing outside. He gets soo dirty he has to get straight into the bathtub! Gotta love boys!!
We recently put the boys together in the same room. They have bunk beds and seem to be doing very well together. It is really sweet to watch them develop such love for one another. I do pray for their hearts that the Lord would penetrate his word straight to them and they would grow up to be Godly men seeking the Saviour always.

As for me - I am here wide awake!! I will be 15 weeks preggo on Sunday and I am anxious to find out whether we will be adding a boy or girl to our mix! We should find out sometime in May. I am starting to feel better as long as I don’t eat too little or too much! Nathan is so excited to be a big brother again. I am enjoying be active at church in the ladies ministry and children’s choir and I have just recently started meeting with a good friend for discipling purposes. Our times have been very fruitful and I am thankful the Lord has brought our paths together! Sad to say I have not been running! I am hoping to get back into an exercise routine on Monday - we shall see how it goes! That is about it for now! I will hopefully get some pictures up here soon I have many!!!

Easter Events

Posted on March 25, 2008 by Pruiksma's

I thought I would go ahead and post a slide show … it is late right now so I will have to blog about it tomorrow (hopefully)! Enjoy the pics for now.

I don't ever want to forget.....

Posted on March 21, 2008 by Pruiksma's

Easter is quicky approaching and we are all reminded once again of true reason we celebrate Easter. How often during the year, I am ashamed to admit, do I not feel the weight and gravity of the affliction and pain Christ suffered on the cross for me. A friend shared this video with me and it was so good I thought I would post it so you can watch it if you choose. There are scenes from the Passion of the Christ so if you have small children in front of you just beware. I am so thankful for Christ’s sacrifice and am I elated that we serve a RISEN Saviour!! It is my prayer I will daily take up my cross and follow Him!! Hope you all have a blessed Easter

Trip to the Fire Station

Posted on March 6, 2008 by Pruiksma's

My good friend Donnah Neal set up a trip for us to visit Paul Bell ( a member of our church) who is a lt for the fire dept in Fairburn. What a fun time we all had - the Neal’s, Culbertson’s, and Pruiksma’s minus a few family members due to work and school! Paul did a fabulous job showing us around and explaining to the kids about fire men and what they do in an actual fire. He definitely made an impression on Nathan because all day long he played fireman and he had to be dressed just like Mr. Paul wearing his belt sideways and wearing his walkie talkie. Thank you so much Donnah and Paul! We had a blast!!

Seminar two weeks later!

Posted on March 6, 2008 by Pruiksma's

We have been back from our annual Chick-fil-a seminar in Orlando for almost two weeks now and I am just getting around to posting - sorry!! We had such a good time. Got to sing in a chorus behind Chris Tomlin, hear Louie Giglio speak an incredible message on how BIG God is (he is one of my all time favorite speakers!) And of course we were reminded once again what a blessing it is to be part of the Chick-fil-a family. I mean seriously how many companies send their employees and their spouses (expenses paid) on a trip and start out the seminar with God right in the center of our week!! I love chick-fil-a!!!!!!!!! I am thankful that David has such a great job and works with such wonderful people!! Here our some pics from our week!

Two weeks I soon won't forget

Posted on February 6, 2008 by Pruiksma's

I know it has been a good while since I last posted. I think my last post was our first snow and then two days after that we had another snow and of course I took many pictures and a few videos and just haven’t posted them. Sorry!

As many of you know David has been out of pocket training for his new position at Chick-fil-a. He graduated from his FRL (Fundamentals of Resteraunt Leadership) on Thursday January 31 and did I bring my camera ….of course not!! It was a nice ceremony and we were so proud of him!! He is now in training in Covington and in two weeks we leave for our annual CFA seminar.
On January 28 I turned 29 woo hoo! And what a week I had and it hasn’t stopped!! Sunday the 27th I brought Luke home early from church because he developed pink eye, then Monday morning Nathan wakes up with pink eye - big suprise! During the morning he takes a tumble and busts his lip and knocks his tooth back so we made an emergency run to the Dentist. Thank goodness for my friend Angie who met me there to sit with Luke in the car because remember he has pink eye! Tuesday night I staretd feeling bad with a sore throat. Wednesday Nathan wakes up early screaming and crying his ears hurt - he had a double ear infection. I am still feeling bad. Friday I go to the doctor and get tested for strep - don’t have it. Saturday David finds a doctor open and he has a double ear infection. Sunday I wake up with pink eye. Monday I call the doctor and get some antibiotics and eye drops finally!!! Today almost two weeks later I am finally starting to feel better! Hence why I have not blogged!!

We have much to be thankful for and the Lord tells us to give thanks in all situations. And we are thankful. It is during weeks like these that I am reminded what a gift it is to be healthy. We have many friends who face uncertainties with thier health right now and I am blessed to have a pretty health family. We are undeserving of the good health we have and that makes me even more grateful for what the Lord has blessed us with.

And in other news we will be adding to our family in late September/early October. You are reading right or maybe you have heard ….YES we are pregnant!! We are all so excited!! Something else we are very thankful for!!

Well that is about all for now. Here is a slideshow of some recent pictures we have taken! Enjoy!

A sweet prayer

Posted on January 19, 2008 by Pruiksma's

This is what Nathan prayed tonight before bed and I wanted to write it down so I don’t forget it.
“Thank you Lord for this day and it was good and thank you for being in our hearts and sleeping with us. Amen”

Go Navy, Army, Air Force and Marines.....(better late than never!)

Posted on January 16, 2008 by Pruiksma's

In case you didn’t know David and I come from a military background. His grandfather, dad, and sister were all in the military. In fact his sister served in Iraq. And both my grandparents, my dad and my brother were in the military (my brother currently serving in Iraq). This information just helps you to know that we are very grateful to those who serve/served in the armed forces. To show this my husband came up with a fabulous idea! He decided we should take ourselves and the kids along with Mr. JK to the airport to hand out baked goods to the soldiers who were there. I had made some goodies during Christmas and then Cookies to You in Fayetteville donated tons of cookies and of course we handed out BOG’s (free CFA) and a little note from the boys. I tried to copy and paste the note and picture here but it is not working for me! We dressed the boys in thier camos how appropriate I know. I must say it was very emotional for me as I watched those soldiers leaving thier families behind to protect our country. This is a huge sacrifice. It was a joy to hear Nathan say there is an army man and go running after him or her to hand them a little goody bag. I pray that he grows to know the important sacrifice these men and women are making for us and he remembers to be grateful. Here are a few snapshots. If you know a soldier tell them thank you for us!

New Years Eve Chick-fil-A style

Posted on January 2, 2008 by Pruiksma's

For those of you who haven’t heard… we ring in the year with style ”chikin” style that is! This year we had the Chick-fil-a bowl and the Nugget Drop! WooHoo! This year David and I participated in Truett’s Grill McDonough 2007 Nugget Drop! It was super busy and lots of fun! I forgot what the hustle and bustle of the store can bring. It was so busy! I passed the time rolling silverware, taking a few drink orders, and making some salads! I wasn’t alone my bestest gal pal Angie helped me do this! And of course David was busy as well cleaning tables and doing whatever was needed. Then it came time to ring in the new year! We counted down, and watched the big nugget fall into some honey mustard dipping sauce! Then came the fireworks! We do have a video and once I figure out how to post it I will try but here are a few pics for now!

Christmas

Posted on January 2, 2008 by Pruiksma's

I can’t believe Christmas has come and gone! I start listening to Christmas music the day after Halloween! My husband thinks I am nuts but I truly love the season! In all actuality Christmas should be near our hearts every day of our lives. After all if it weren’t for that blessed Christmas when the Savior of the world was born I would be doomed! I am so thankful for the sacrifice Christ made for me and thankful that God’s plan was to send His son into the world to live, serve and die for me a sinner! No I am not still listening to Christmas music but I will try to make a concerted effort to remember Bethlehem everyday. That being said above are some of our pictures from Christmas. We truly are blessed! Hope you enjoy!

The face of Oreo gets a promotion!

Posted on January 1, 2008 by Pruiksma's

(cow pic)

Congratulations Daddy!!! I am so excited to report that my hubby got a promotion with Chick-fil-A! He is the new Business Consultant for the Dwarf House and Truetts Grills Resteraunts within Chick-fil-A! You are probably wondering what does this mean! Basically he has a lot more responsibility for the stores he was already working with. I am so excited for him and this new opportunity! He will be fantastic! He truly loves the guys he works with and is interested in seeing them be successful! He is a great encourager and I know he will be great! This also means that he won’t have to work at the Fayetteville Dwarf house early in the mornings anymore. This is a great answer to prayer! I am looking forward to having him home a little bit longer in the mornings! He will have to go through some training begining January 7. He will go through what they call FRL. He will stay at a local hotel partcipating in meetings, classes, etc until January 31 when he graduates from this training. It will be a long month and we will miss him but fortunately he is just a drive away and we are so excited for him! We are greatful to the Lord for providing David with such a wonderful company to work for! We love CFA and all it stand for! So if you don’t already “EAT MOR CHIKIN!”

Parties and more!

Posted on January 1, 2008 by Pruiksma's

Tis the season for lots to do and this year was no different! I have compiled a slide show of some of the different happenings in December. We started the month off with a Christmas Carol Sing-a-long/cookie swap at the Neals. This was lots of fun! We sang several Christmas carols heard the Christmas story and had soup/salad lunch and then exchanged cookies. It was great fun and we are greatful to the Neals for opening up their home to us! That same day we got our Christmas tree! We looked several places before we found the right one. Daddy did a great job of picking it out! The following weekend was a whirlwind. We had our first ever ladies Christmas Tea at church, the kids musical dress rehearsal, care group christmas party, and the musical Angels Aware. I have one picture of my son in his whole costume … as soon as he got on stage he chose to remove his halo and act like your typical three year old. Nonetheless the program was fantastic and all the kids were awesome! We also along with the Neal family went to the Rock Ranch aka “Rocky Ranch” according to Nathan. There they have a walk through Bethlehem. The night we went was so beatiful the sky was so clear you could see the stars so well. And it was sooo cold!!! It was a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas!! December 14 David and I celebrated our 5th anniversary. We went up to Rome and stayed at the Winshape Retreat Center! It was sooo beautiful and relaxing! We rode bikes, played games and just spent great time together! I am so blessed I have a wonderful husband and I am thankful the Lord provided for me in such a way! And then the week before Christmas I along with my mom took the boys up to Lenox to ride the Pink Pig and of course we had cookies from the cookie company (mommies favorite!) The boys loved riding the train!

We went shopping for a little while on the day after Thanksgiving. We were only out a couple of hours. Luke was obviously not amused! He fell asleep in the cart!

Giving Thanks.....

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We started out the morning watching the infamous Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For those of you that might not know I absolutely love NYC! So of course we had to watch and it just so happened that they had some broadway performances on “Herald Square” and Mary Poppins was one of them. I had seen Mary Poppins on Broadway back in February when my husband sent me to my favorite city as a gift! It was thrilled to watch a scene from the show on my TV screen at home. I am sure I am the only one in my fam who remotely cared. Nathan watched but r he was just humoring me probably. Now on to the actual day. This is actually my favorite time of the year I absolutely love the holidays! We had lunch at my moms apartment and then we had dinner at David’s parents. He had a lot of his cousins come in town for Thanksgiving and of course his grandma aka “great” was here as well. After dinner we played “Hoopla” at Melanie and JR’s house. If you have never played this game it is a lot of fun! Below here is a picture of the boys at my moms. I truly have a lot to be thankful for!

But I am so excited because now I can blog from anywhere not just up in the office! This is great! Maybe I will be a better blogger. We shall see! Well let me get some pictures on here so I can get you updated! Check back soon!

“Who’s that kid with the oreo cookie?” You got it! It is my hubby!! Obviously we are only kidding, David is not the new face of Oreos! However apparently CFA has oreo appreciation day and my husband failed to tell me this! This is big stuff I love oreo cookies ~ it is a weakness! I thought this was too cute not to post! Now I get to eat one of my favorite cookies and think about my husband while I am indulging because his handsome face is on the box!

Bragging on my husband...

I have such the sweetest husband so I have to brag on him. He doesn’t like me to but he deserves it! I went to the gym this morning as usual and when I came out to my van I saw some flowers in the dashboard. He had stopped by and left me a dozen pink roses with a sweet note! Pink is my favorite color! It just made my day. I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed me with a good man!!

Childrens Choir Anyone??

I direct the childrens choir for our church. The ranges in age are 3 up to 6th grade. This has been very fun for me because now Nathan is at the age where he can participate. However I do not think he enjoys it as much as I do. The kids recently sang in church and this was a picture a friend of mine snapped. Her daughter is yawning and Nathan is who knows what he was doing - not singing I guarentee! I just had to laugh!!! It is so hilarious!! He loves music and sings in the car and at home all the time. I don’t know what gives! Hopefully he will start singing at church the Christmas musical is coming soon! December 9th if you should so be inclined to come see it! It will be a fabulous presentation of the true meaning of the season!

A Veterans Affair......

Posted on November 14, 2007 by Pruiksma's

For those of you that don’t know I come from a military serving family on both sides! Both my grandfathers were in the navy, my dad was in the navy and now my brother is serving in Iraq as part of the naval fleet. Not to mention my father-in-law was in the air force and my sister-in-law is in the army national guard and she spent time in Iraq. Needless to say we are very patriotic!! We are very grateful to the men and women who have served our country and continue to do so today.

For the past couple of years Chick-fil-a has sponsored a table at the Georgia Veterans Ball. It is a long story but we went to the ball, before CFA sponsored a table, with David’s parents and then David thought it would be nice if CFA could become involved… and they did and that is how we get to attend this dinner/ball. We have heard some wonderful speakers and I am thankful we get to participate. Here are some pictures from this year. David works with a guy who serves in the guard as well, he too has spent time in Iraq. I believe I have blogged about him before because he led the platoon my ob nurses (when I had Luke) son was killed in. It is a small world. Thank a veteran this week and enjoy the pics!

A prayer in the van..

Posted on November 5, 2007 by Pruiksma's

(If you read earlier read again…… I made a mistake in quoting Nathan so I had to edit)
Today on the way home from Wal-mart Nathan was unusually concerned over the weather. He questioned me numerous times as to when it was going to rain. After several attempts to give him a satisfactory answer much to my avail I finally said what I should have said all along was it will rain when God wants it to and for now we just have to pray for rain. A few seconds later I hear this…

Nathan: “Dear God thank you for this day (dramatic pause) and will you please send us some rain for goodness sake (another dramatic pause) and help us have a good nights sleep. Amen”
The goodness sake part comes from a song in our childrens christmas musical. This was just too funny I had to post it. We will keep praying for rain!!

Let the fun begin!!

It is official! The start of the holiday season is here! At least for me it is!! I was so excited to hear Christmas music on the radio today! This is my most favorite time of the year! My husband laughs at me but every year…….. but the day after Halloween I start listening to Christmas music! It just so happened that 104.7 the fish was playing Christmas music today October 31 which is also Halloween and what David calls reformation day in honor of Martin Luther.

We try not overly get into Halloween. It has kind of been a tradition to get together with our dear friends the Lindleys and take pictures of the kids in costumes and then we go to the church I grew up at for their annual fall festival. That is what we did tonight but we also headed down to Griffen to check out a festival there and then ate at Truetts Grill. We had a great time of fellowship with our friends and the kids enjoyed the different activities the churches provided. Nathan dressed as Buzz Lightyear and Luke dressed up as Nemo and I have to say he was the cutest Nemo I have ever seen. Here are some pictures of our evening. Enjoy!

Dad this is for you!

Meat for the winter...

David is a hunter and he very much loves to “play in the woods” with our good friend Mr. JK. more to come……..

Not a good blogger...

Posted on October 30, 2007 by Pruiksma's

That would be me!! I thought for sure when I put this site together that I might actually stay on top of blogging. HA! Life is so busy with a plethora of things that blogging has not been a priority on the list and rightfully so. But here I am know and all is quiet so I have a few minutes to blog and what I don’t get to now will still be waiting for me.

Where to begin….. I will try to do a quick catch up!

David - he is doing well. We are still waiting to hear from our cardiologist as to what happens next. He had a cardiac MRI a few weeks ago and that showed that his right ventricle has decreased function. This could be hereditary and have been like this all his life. When he had the MRI his cardiac enzymes were still elevated and that is the main problem so we are just waiting to see what happens next. We had a super fabulous time in NYC and he did an awesome job of planning the trip. He is working on another trip right now just for the dwarf guys. It is their yearly retreat and I believe they are going to Callaway sometime in November.

Nathan - we just finished up swimming lessons so now we are home most of the time and mommy loves this! He is getting so tall and acts like such a grown up! He loves to come and lay in bed with me once David has gone to work and he told me a few weeks ago that I was his friend : ” his best one!” this of course melted my heart!! He is very smart and social but still very much a mama’s boy!

Luke - I cannot believe he will be 17 months old tomorrow! He looks like he should just be about 13 months and it feels like I was just holding him in my arms all cozy and cuddly just yesterday. Let me assure you there is not much cozy cuddling because he likes to be on the go. He toddles around here with giggles. He loves to smile and giggle at himself!! His new words are hey and bye bye. We have an alarm at the house here and when a door opens it beeps and boy when he hears that beep he runs to the door and says hey or bye bye. It is so cute. And he has such a fascination with the phone much like Nathan did at this age. He runs when he hears it ring. He is growing too fast!! I may be getting baby fever soon!

Me - not much new here! I had a great time in NYC! I think that is one of my favorite places to visit. It was so nice to spend time with David and our friends. I am still working out at the gym, running like a queen! And I am very involved in church and loving it!! For those of you who know me this past year has been a journey and it is such a blessing to see God’s faithfulness through it all!

Well that is about all for now! Hopefully I will stay caught up in the blogging world!

NYC - we had a blast!
